OMR (Optical Mark Recognition)
OMR is a scanning process of recognizing markings on a page. An example of an OMR application would be a test answer sheet on which you shade the answer "bubbles" with a pencil. A specialized scanner is then used to recognize the markings and register where they lie on the page. Some types of OMR software can also recognize checked versus unchecked boxes on applications.

OMR uses light to detect dark markings on white paper. The documents to be read have empty boxes pre-printed on them. The user shades the appropriate boxes with pencil or ink.

Multiple choice examinations: candidates answer questions by shading the appropriate boxes.
The evaluated examination scores of the candidate can be read from the shaded bubble in an appropriate box by the OMR scanner.
